1. Romantic Shapes and Fabrics
This year is all about romance. Think lace, tulle, oversized sleeves, and a touch of boho. It's all about escaping from everything that went on with covid. So many brides had to cancel their weddings, so when their big day is finally locked in, they want something to feel really beautiful in.
2. Flamboyance
For plenty of brides, the idea of going a bit over the top is high on their dream wedding goals. After such a crazy year, brides really want to have as much fun as possible. As a result, we are seeing the emergence of bodices, frills, layers, and statement embellishments.
3. Short Hemlines
Brides are stepping outside the traditional wedding dress and going for something different to ensure they feel super-special on their big day. The ‘rise’ of the shorter hemline also lends itself to an entire day (and night!) of dancing and fun.
4. Lace
Lace is back, and you need only look at 2022 bridal collections on the runway for proof. Bridal designers are creating bridal looks that are to-the-floor lace or have lace details. It’s also a nod to traditional dresses while looking completely modern.
5. Party Dresses
Brides are wanting to party, which is understandable as many brides have had to rearrange their nuptials because of the pandemic. Shorter lengths, scooping necklines and statement sleeves are all part of the party look.
6. Alternative Wedding Dresses
2022 is seeing a break away from traditional wedding dresses. Think different fabrics, balloon puff sleeves, cut-outs, and sculptural twists on classic styles. Basically, a modernisation of both old and new styles that makes the bride feel like a ‘queen’.
