6 Tips To Choose Your Perfect Wedding Dress

With so many amazing wedding dress styles to choose from, making a decision for your big day can be quite daunting. Here’s how to get it right and find your dream dress…

1. SET YOUR THEME

Before you start trying on dresses it helps to set a theme for the day from the very beginning. Your venue is a great starting point. is it rustic, bohemian, modern, by the beach etc? This will help you start choosing a dress that fits the location, which will help you set the theme. Next, you can start collating dress styles to fit your theme. Pinterest is a great platform to do this by creating mood boards, and instagram has so many beautiful bridal accounts to follow for inspiration. You could also start following .instagram.com/hyattweddings for the latest trends.

2. DON’T BLOW-OUT YOUR BUDGET

Don’t be fooled into thinking your wedding dress has to be one of the most expensive items on your list It’s easy to lose sight of the ultimate goal here - a magic day full of epic memories and a whole heap of fun! Don’t be afraid to rule out brands that do not fit within your budget, and don’t be blinkered by the fact that brands that aren’t that expensive can have amazing dresses.

3. BE TRUE TO YOURSELF
Don’t be pressured into choosing a dress that doesn’t feel right. Try on various dress shapes and styles, they often look completely different on the body Listen to your heart and don’t be afraid to not conform, and don’t get caught up chasing other people’s ideas of what your wedding should be. Remember, what suits other brides may not necessarily suit you, and if you feel amazing in the dress, it will make your day in so many ways.

4. ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS
Make sure you jot down some important information to know before you lock a dress in...
If you are buying off the rack: Ask how much the alterations are and whether they will be capped at a certain price?
If you are ordering a dress: Ask: how long the production time is, will the dress get made to fit you, and will it require altering after a final fitting? If so make sure you have enough time for it all.
If you’re having a dress designed: Ask if all the fittings are included in the cost of the dress, and what the timeline is?

5. RELY ON YOUR TRIBE
Only invite your friends that you truly trust to dress-shopping appointments. Friends that know you inside out, whose opinions you really value? And who will contribute with the right comments and help you by being honest, and constructive,  and ultimately bring you closer to making the right decisions on the day?

6. ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE
Take a breath and enjoy the experience of choosing your dream dress, and the company of those who help you. It’s all part of the experience that will create unforgettable memories.
